Baxter still unavailable for Fulham – News
Head coach Shota Arveladze has revealed goalkeeper Nathan Baxter is still unavailable for this weekend’s game against Fulham.
The 23-year-old has missed the last two games against Preston North End and Derby County, and Arveladze says it is very difficult to give a timetable for his return.
“He’s not well yet,” Arveladze said.
“That’s the only thing I can say. I can’t say exactly how fast he will recover. The last time I spoke to him, it didn’t seem like it would take too long. Right now, he’s not fit enough to play.
On a positive note, Arveladze revealed that Mallik Wilks has returned to training as he continues his recovery from injury. The 23-year-old striker hasn’t featured for the Tigers since the loss to Nottingham Forest in December.
“He trained today – half a session with the team and the other half with the staff trying to help him recover,” added Arveladze.
“It’s very difficult for me to say how soon he will come back. He just warmed up with us, did a bit on the ball and that’s it (in today’s session). »
Lewie Coyle has returned to the starting line-up against Derby after almost three months on the sidelines, and Arveladze is confident the right-back is fit enough to be involved again against Fulham.
“He’s a boy who can do that physically,” Arveladze explained.
“I took him off with about 15 minutes to go to give him some breathing room after a long period of inactivity. He is doing well and I am watching the players daily to see how they are doing.
Finally, Arveladze has also confirmed that Andy Cannon and Callum Elder are available for selection.
“(Andy) Cannon is in good shape,” Arveladze said.
“He trained with the group. He is fit enough (to play).
“Callum has been training with the group for the past three sessions. It is also available.
