Fill-The-Truck food drive planned for next Shelton High football game


Articles from players on the Shelton High School varsity basketball team and coaches from a previous basketball shooting clinic in a recent year are featured. Players and coaches taught young children at the clinic basketball skills and collected food for the school’s Audrey Dreyer Food Bank. The Shelton Public School District’s annual Fill-the-Truck food drive event for the school’s Audrey Dreyer food bank will take place on October 29 at Finn Stadium in Shelton High School, where the Shelton High varsity football team School Gaels to play the Newtown High School Nighthawks varsity football team at 7 p.m.

SHELTON – The school district’s annual Fill-the-Truck Food Drive to benefit Audrey Dreyer Food Bank will take place on October 29 at Finn Stadium in Shelton High School.

The collection will take place during the Shelton-Newtown football game, which begins at 7 p.m.

All non-perishable food items and toiletries are required. Foods needed include frozen turkeys, stuffing, cranberry sauce, brownie mixes, canned soups, canned vegetables, canned fruits, canned gravy, potato mixes, mixes of rice, hot chocolate mixes, peanut butter, jelly, pasta sauce and Hamburger Helper.

The necessary toiletries include shower gel, shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste and laundry detergent.

Shelton High School students who volunteer can receive hours of community service through the food bank.
