Football player Diveev commented on the return of Vasily Berezutsky to CSKA

Then February 24, 10. The return of Vasily Berezutsky to the coaching staff of Moscow football club CSKA added positive emotions to the team ahead of the start of the second part of the season. This was stated by the defender of the capital team and the Russian national team Igor Diveev, whose comment is given by the newspaper “Sport-Express”.

Since August 2020, Vasily Berezutsky has served as CSKA’s deputy general director for sports issues, then joined the team’s coaching staff. In 2021, he becomes an assistant to former head coach of the military team Viktor Goncharenko in Krasnodar. On January 5, along with Goncharenko, Berezutsky left the club’s coaching staff. Later it was announced that he would return to CSKA. He became an assistant to his brother Alexei Berezutsky, who is the team’s head coach.

“I’m happy to see him back; when he came back under Goncharenko he was just as positive, now he also gave us positive emotions, he jokes in training. Vasily Vladimirovich tells us: what did he do wrong, because he was an experienced person. When something isn’t working for you and they’re still pointing out errors, a nervous reaction, maybe you want to answer something. But then you realize it’s the head coach or his assistant, and you can’t do that,” Diveev said.

Berezutsky is 39 years old, he played for CSKA as a player together with his brother: Alexei Berezutsky – from 2001 to 2018, Vasily Berezutsky – from 2002 to 2018. As part of the club, the brothers won the 2005 UEFA Cup, won the Russian championship and Super Cup six times each, and the country’s cup seven times each. As a member of the Russian national team, Vasily Berezutsky played 101 games and scored five goals.

After 18 rounds, CSKA is in fourth place in the Tinkoff – Russian Premier League standings with 30 points. In the first game after the winter break, the team will meet Spartak Moscow on the road on February 26.
