“Big Game Weekend” of Activities Announced



This year, the Gamecock Garnet and Black Spring Football Game on Saturday April 16 will be under the spotlight at the Williams-Brice stadium.

The game will start at 7 p.m. and will be part of a “Big Gamecock Weekend” of activities. Entry to the game is free for all fans.

“Gamecock fans have always loved their football under the lights at Williams-Brice Stadium,” said the Carolina head coach. Shane Beamer. “Our team will be fired up to wrap up a tough spring training season in front of a terrific crowd for our garnet and black spring football game.”

The match festivities will begin with a pre-match concert by Patrick Davis in the Gamecock Park Amphitheater from 5-6:30 p.m. After the match, there will be post-match fireworks at the Williams-Brice stadium.

Concessions will be available during the spring game, including beer and wine sales.

The Gamecock baseball team will host Ole Miss at Founders Park beginning at 1 p.m., with a pre-game block party outside the stadium.

“Big Gamecock Weekend” kicks off Thursday with the baseball team’s game against Ole Miss at 7 p.m. and continues Friday with beach volleyball against Georgia State and the College of Charleston at Wheeler Beach, men’s tennis against Texas A&M at Carolina Tennis Center and baseball. series with Ole Miss continuing at 7 p.m.

On Saturday, the “Cocky Trot 5K” will take place in and around Gamecock Park. To register for the 5K, fill out the form hereand more information will be sent to registrants in the near future.

Other events on Saturday include the Gamecock Invitational Track & Field Meet at Cregger Track and Beach Volleyball against Florida Gulf Coast and Coastal Carolina.

“It promises to be a great weekend of activity for our fans,” said Gamecock’s sports director. Ray Tanner. “Our staff have been talking about hosting a weekend of activities like this for years and I’m sure everyone will enjoy a ‘Big Gamecock Weekend’.”

Gamecock Park will be open for the Garnet and Black Spring Football Game at 3 p.m. and is free for fans. The Lexington Medical Center Fairgrounds will open to fans at 4 p.m. and will cost $10 per vehicle.

The spring football game and baseball game will be televised live on SEC Network+.
