German footballer wants to buy Turkish club

Former Arsenal star Mesut Ozil is said to be looking to buy another club after buying a stake in Mexican team Nexaca last year.

Fenerbahce man Ozil is eager to buy Turkish third division club Corum FK.

Ozil, 33, previously partnered with gorgeous model Kate Upton and Hollywood star Eva Longoria in 2021 to buy a stake in Nexaca. But now the former Arsenal playmaker is considering a full buyout, according to Bild, having invested 50% of the three-time champion Mexico’s capital.

Former Corum owner Fatih Ozcan left his post at the club last week. And he revealed at a departure press conference: “A world-famous player from Turkey is interested in buying the club.” This player is confirmed by Bild as Ozil.

They then report that Corum captain Umut Kaya said: “The contact came from Irfan Can Kahveci, who plays with Özil in Fenerbahce and is from Corum. He called Özcan and asked for details.”

The asking price for the WHOLE club is 20million Turkish Lira, which equates to just 1million, The Sun reported.

With Ozil reportedly earning £ 335,000 a week from Fenerbahce, £ 1million to buy Corum FK is just a drop in the bucket for the former Germany international. He became Arsenal’s signing record when they paid Real Madrid £ 42.5million for him in 2013. Ozil made 254 appearances, scoring 44 goals and helping the Gunners win three FA Cups. And since trading Arsenal for Fenerbahce in January 2021, he has played 31 times for the Istanbul side, scoring eight goals.
