Isimemen Etute, former Virginia Tech football player, acquitted of murder
Former Virginia Tech football player Isimemen Etute has been officially cleared in his murder case.
A jury found Etute not guilty of second-degree murder on Friday in the May 2021 death of Jerry Smith in Blacksburg, Va., according to ESPN. Smith fished the young footballer posing as a woman, and Etute killed him during an altercation at Smith’s flat. Eute’s defense successfully argued that the murder was in self-defense because Smith reached his bed where a knife was.

After his second-degree murder arrest in 2021, Etute was removed from the Virginia Tech football team, but it seems he still wants to play the sport he loves.
His lawyer, James Turk, told the media: “I think he has earned the right to go back to school and pursue his academic and athletic career. I think the school that eventually takes him will probably become a lot wiser and a lot smarter and an exceptional athlete.

We have a very strong justice system in America, and clearly the jury found that Eute acted in self-defense during the physical altercation that left Smith dead.
People like to think that situations are settled, but that’s rarely the case. Real life is complicated, but it seems the jury was deeply convinced that Etute had done nothing that rose to the level of second-degree murder.
Here are also some free tips that I will offer to everyone. Don’t go into strangers’ apartments or put yourself in situations where you don’t know all the facts. I know hindsight is 20/20, but the best way to stay out of trouble is to go nowhere they might linger.
Hopefully, Etute will be able to move on with his life and put this horrible situation behind him.
