Burnley Football Club President Alan Pace praised the club’s recently announced partnership with Burnley College, which has become Burnley FC’s premier esports academy.

The Clarets are the first Premier League club to partner with an educational institution to promote Esports activity through a BTEC Esports qualification developed by the college.

The BTEC covers corporate marketing, video game design, event planning, production, broadcasting, and journalism to highlight the different avenues that students can take in the rapidly growing industry.

In addition to providing students with a wide-ranging education in Esports, the course will also serve as a gateway to Burnley FC’s Pro Esports teams as well as additional learning and business opportunities with the club.

President Pace said the club are delighted to have partnered with Burnley College and see the relationship as yet another chance for the Clarets to innovate off the pitch and win over a whole new audience.

He said: “We are really excited about this partnership and the opportunities it will provide for students in our region to learn, grow and hopefully continue to do some really cool things in the Esports space.

“We wanted to expand the club’s Esports offering when we arrived because we believe it caters to a rapidly growing inclusive audience that we want to appeal to as a club – this is the next step in that process. .

“The fact that Burnley College runs this amazing BTEC and is right on our doorstep made this partnership a no-brainer for us. As a Premier League football club, we hope to be able to bring additional expertise and opportunities to students in the region to forge closer ties with us. That’s if they join our Esports Academy or if we can help them develop their training or business opportunities.

The new facility will be called Burnley FC Esports Academy with college players representing the new Burnley FC Esports Academy team named “BEES” in the National Esports League on titles such as Rocket League and Overwatch. Some players will also join Burnley FC Esports Pro in the FIFA 22 Global Series.

Over time, there are plans to increase the size of the common facilities used at both the college and Turf Moor as the course and teams grow.

Over the past 10 years, Esports has grown exponentially and is on its way to becoming a $ 2 billion industry, with new Esports arenas being introduced all over the world as demand continues to grow.
