Big plays are a sure thing for an All-Star game, and the 48th Annual East/West Ventura County All-Star Football Game produced its share Saturday afternoon.

St. Bonaventure High’s Darrius Shirley-Moore had a 25-yard run, followed by his own 3-yard touchdown, which was the deciding fourth quarter of the West’s 23-7 win at Ventura College.

Cody Hoffman, another St. Bonaventure stalwart, outplayed a defender in the end zone to carry a 25-yard touchdown pass from Hueneme’s Stanley Espinoza with 5:34 left in the third quarter that gave West an advance he would not renounce.

When Thousand Oaks’ Jackson Volk produced a striped sack midway through the second quarter, it was Lancers teammate Ben Knox who jumped on the loose football in the end zone for what turned out to be the only points of the competition for the East.

Thousand Oaks East's Ben Knox (center) celebrates with teammates after recovering a fumble for a touchdown during the second quarter of the 48th Annual East/West Ventura County All-Star Football Game at Ventura College on Saturday March 12, 2022. The West won 23-7.

You know what else is a certainty in an all-star match?

The competition juices will flow.

This also happened when the two teams traded interceptions in the fourth quarter on back-to-back possessions.

The second, by Richie Vega of Santa Paula, was met with a hard tackle, woofing by a number of players, and a heated exchange of jostling on the pitch. Both teams were sidelined by their coaches.

Two teenagers have been arrested after knives were allegedly used during a fight at a National Sports Center football game over the weekend.

The 15-year-old boys have been arrested in connection with an incident at Devonshire’s National Stadium, which allegedly happened during an Under-15 football match.

An eyewitness said the scuffle took place after three youths followed a player as he walked towards a car after the game.

The source said the disturbance lasted between “five and ten minutes” and he saw an individual bleeding from his arm after removing his tracksuit top.

The witness added: ‘I think it’s a sad, sad situation – and the thing that I think is so sad is that nobody talks about all these things that are happening on this island by young black men .

“That’s what really bothers me and something needs to be done because things aren’t getting better.”

Police said one of the teenagers was treated for ‘minor injuries’ following the incident, which reportedly happened around 3.20pm last Saturday.

A police spokesman said one of the boys was arrested for alleged possession of a blade and was released on bail.

Another teenager, also 15 and also believed to have had a knife, left before officers arrived, but was later found and arrested.

The police spokesman said the second youth had been released on bail.

Deputy Police Commissioner Antoine Daniels, who witnessed the alleged incident, thanked bystanders who intervened.

Mr Daniels said he stayed at the stadium and spoke to young people who told him ‘carrying knives and other bladed items is quickly becoming the norm’.

Mr Daniels said the youths claimed some were carrying guns for protection.

He added: “This is not the first time the Bermuda Police Department has been made aware of this type of behavior.”

Mr Daniels said Acting Police Commissioner Darrin Simons highlighted the knife issue at a recent press conference.

He told the audience: “I not only want to reiterate the comments of the Acting Commissioner that carrying a knife or any sharp object for self-protection creates a greater likelihood of being involved in a knife-related incident, but also increases the risk to those around you. be hurt. »

Police said three incidents had occurred in 24 hours – prompting a warning about the dangers of carrying a knife.

Among them, a woman was stabbed in the back at Sandys at 1am last Sunday.

The 28-year-old was injured at Legends Bar on Somerset Road in Sandys.

The injury was described as ‘serious but not life-threatening’ and the woman is being treated at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital.

A police spokesperson said the incident occurred after an argument “escalated and resulted in the victim sustaining a one-inch stab wound to the left side of his back”.

He added that there were several customers in the bar at the time and appealed for witnesses.

The spokesman said the weekend incidents with bladed items began at 3 a.m. on Saturday when police arrested a 19-year-old man for traffic violations.

The suspect fled after learning he had outstanding warrants.

But he was caught, found carrying a 3 inch knife and arrested.

Earlier this month, police announced a crackdown on knife crime following a spate of stabbings.

Mr Daniels said officers had been given the power to stop and search anyone they suspected of carrying a blade.

He agreed that people arm themselves because they fear “being potentially attacked”, but stressed that carrying knives only increases the potential for harm.

He added: “If you feel threatened, don’t arm yourself. Report your concern to someone in authority.

Police have reported more than 33 incidents involving blades since the beginning of last August.

Mr Daniels said it was “a worrying trend for a small island community”.

He pointed out that one of the incidents allegedly took place at “a sporting event attended by a wide cross-section of the community, young and old”.

Mr Daniels said police were ‘grateful’ the injured woman at Sandys did not sustain a life-threatening injury.

He added: “We do not lose sight that another family could have been left to face tragedy as there is real potential for loss of life resulting from each of these senseless acts.”

Mr Daniels warned that police would continue to use stop and search policies.

He said: “We will intensify our efforts in this regard as we seek to end the practice of individuals going out in public armed and ready to engage in violence.”

Anyone with information about the incidents over the weekend should call 211 or the main police number at 295-0011.

The public can also use Crime Stoppers’ independent and confidential helpline at 800-8477 or provide details to a police officer they know.

FIFA 22: Revealed Team of the Year

EA Sports’ football video game franchise could change its name after FIFA 23, if their licensing agreement is not renewed with FIFA.

According to previous reports from the New York Times, the current 10-year agreement between EA Sports and FIFA could come to an end after this year’s World Cup in Qatar (December 2022), meaning that a potential franchise name change could come after the launch of FIFA 23 (expected in September 2022), if this license not be renewed. Yesterday, Mirror Football reported that EA Sports are still planning to release FIFA 23 this year, but the massive games franchise may be coming to an end soon, following comments made by EA CEO Andrew Wilson to employees.

* Click here to subscribe to Level up! The sports and gaming fairthe podcast is available on Loud speaker, Spotify, Apple podcast or wherever you get your podcasts.*

In comments provided anonymously to VGCWilson told employees at an internal meeting in November that “the FIFA brand makes more sense as a video game than as the governing body of football” and that “what we get from FIFA in a year without a World Cup, these are the four letters on the front of the box”.

According to the same article, Wilson also claimed that the FIFA license has been an “‘impediment’ to EA Sports in terms of growing their franchise and that “FIFA is just the name on the box, but they have prevented our capacity to be able to diversify in the fields desired by the players.

EA has yet to officially announce a possible title change for its football games if they lose the rights to the FIFA name, but as previously reported by the New York TimesEA trademarked “EA Sports FC” in the UK and EU in October 2021, hinting at a potential new game for their popular franchise, should EA decide not to renew its deal with FIFA.

This phrase was previously used by EA when the EA SPORTS Football Catalog (EASFC) was featured in-game until it was removed in FIFA 21. The EA SPORTS Football Catalog allowed players to earn Credits from football club (FFC) by simply playing the game, similar to in-game currency such as V-Bucks in Fortnite.

These credits could then be used to redeem for cosmetic items like football boots, balls, and kits for use in Pro Clubs, or beneficial bonuses in Ultimate Team and Career Mode such as Coin Boosts or Takedowns. financial control. EA Sports could take a similar route to Konami and rebrand its soccer game franchise to something similar to eFootball, formerly known as Pro Evolution Soccer. Other possible names could be EAS Football or EA Club Football, but nothing has been confirmed yet.

EA Sports’ FIFA franchise began in December 1993 with the launch of FIFA International Soccer, but the company revealed in October 2021 that it was exploring a potential name change for its global soccer games.

“We are exploring the idea of renaming our EA SPORTS Global Football Games,” Says EA’s statement in October 2021.

“We are reviewing our naming rights agreement with FIFA, which is separate from all of our other official football partnerships and licenses.

“Our priority is to ensure that we have every chance of continuing to deliver the best interactive football experiences in the world.”

FIFA responded with a strong statement following EA Sports’ statement, suggesting that they could create their own football video game instead.

“FIFA will adopt a new business positioning in gaming and esports to ensure that it is best placed to make decisions that benefit all football stakeholders,” FIFA said in a statement posted on its website.

“FIFA is optimistic and excited about the future of gaming and esports for football, and it is clear that this needs to be a space occupied by more than one party controlling all rights.

“Technology and mobile companies are now actively competing to be associated with FIFA, its platforms and global tournaments.

“Therefore, FIFA is engaging with various industry players, including developers, investors and analysts, to develop a long-term vision for the games, esports and interactive entertainment sector.”

Could the non-renewal of the license agreement with FIFA lead to a lower quality game? Could this lead to potential revenue loss for EA Sports? And, would you still buy EA Sports’ football game if it wasn’t called FIFA? Let us know in the comments.

Powered by football, EA SPORTS FIFA 22 brings the game even closer to reality with a new season of innovation across all modes and revolutionary next-gen HyperMotion gaming technology on PlayStation5 that elevates every moment of the game.

Katlego “Tsiki” Ntsabeleng has become the latest South African soccer player to sign for a major international soccer club in 2021. Major League Soccer (MLS) team FC Dallas announced on Wednesday January 12, 2022 that the club secured the services of Ntsabeleng after his impressive performance in the 2021 campaign at Oregon State University.

In an MLS web report, it was stated that FC Dallas “continued their busy 2022 MLS SuperDraft on Tuesday by securing the No. 28 pick (first round) via a trade with New York City FC and selecting the Oregon State forward Tsiki Ntsabeleng. In return, 2021 MLS Cup champions NYCFC received $50,000 in allocation money and the No. 34 SuperDraft pick (second round).

The 23-year-old Daveyton-born footballer honed his skills at the University of Johannesburg (UJ) when he was enrolled for a sports management qualification. He played for UJ in local leagues and the FNB Varsity Football tournament before playing for the South Africa national under-20 team, reserve team Mamelodi Sundowns and second team Kaizer Chiefs in the Multichoice Diski Challenge (MDC).

His success in the United States is the result of his impressive exploits in the South African national under-20 team. Ntsabeleng’s talent impressed Kyle Timm when the young national team took part in the COSAFA Cup in Zambia in 2018. Timm recruited Ntsabeleng to join Coastal Carolina University in the United States.

He was part of the SA Under20 and Chiefs MDC teams that won the Multichoice Diski Shield and COSAFA championship in 2017 and 2018, respectively.

Mr. River Ntsabeleng, Tsiki’s father expressed his immense pride in his son’s success.

“I have no words to describe the feeling. I thank God for the blessing. I have never missed a UJ football game my son played in Gauteng and I was there for every game he played. played in Johannesburg. I only watched him on TV when he was playing in distant provinces. I have supported and trained him since he was 9 years old.

He adds: “One thing I would like to urge our local professional teams to do is to encourage young people to continue their post-matric education even when they start playing professional football.”

Ntsabeleng received a full scholarship at CCU in 2018. It was there that he graduated. While studying at CCU, he was injured. While nursing his injury and looking for a team, he enrolled in a master’s degree (2020-2021) at Oregon State University, which later helped him overcome his injury issues.

“I would also like to urge young people to take their education and talent very seriously. Football and any other talent goes a long way when supplemented with education. Young people should not indulge in alcohol. Please stay away from drugs and any other form of addiction,” the father says, emphasizing the importance of education for young people.

At UJ, Ntsabeleng excelled under former South African left-back Bradley Carnell as a coach. Carnell launched his coaching career at UJ and guided the UJ team to their first FNB Varsity Football tournament final in 2014. He continued his coaching prowess with the technical team of Orlando Pirates F.C.

A few weeks ago, Carnell was also announced as the newly appointed head coach of St. Louis CITY SC in the United States after spending a year with New York Red Bulls.

A Welsh football game was scrapped mid-game over the weekend due to racism allegations.

The draw between Llanberis and Meliden FC was stopped and abandoned on Saturday when Llanberis player Ifan Mansoor said he was abused.

His team left the field and the match ended.

In a Facebook post, Meliden said the club does not tolerate racism.

Denbighshire club chairman Steve Boyle told the BBC: “An investigation will be carried out by the FAW and we will also carry out our own investigation.

UFL is a new football game from newcomers Strikerz Inc., which stands out from the main FIFA competition by being free to play.

By being free to play, the company considers the UFL to be fair as well, which it promotes through its advertising campaign.

Check out everything we know about UFL below, including its release date, gameplay, and trailers.

Latest – Another Partner Announced

As we count on the release of the gameplay reveal, the UFL has announced another partner club.

Scottish giants Celtic are the seventh club confirmed as partners, after Besiktas, Borussia Mönchengladbach, Monaco, Shakhtar Donetsk, Sporting CP and West Ham United all joined the game.

Once again, the focus was on the UFL’s fair-to-play principle, with the line “Together we will defy football playing conventions” showing the new direction Strikerz plans to take. .

Gameplay reveals the arrival

The biggest news around the game since it was announced, people will be able to see UFL gameplay for the first time.

At Thursday January 27, this new footage will be released, with the only comparable thing so far being the reveal of Ambassador Romelu Lukaku.

Needless to say, we’re thrilled, as it will really show if the title can provide competition for FIFA.

Release date

At the moment, UFL does not have an official release date, with its developers call it “in progress”, and the only hint from the trailer being that it’s “coming soon”.

With eFootball’s disastrous start to life, game makers are taking their time to make sure it’s as polished as possible before committing to a date.

The game has been in development since 2016, but the creation of Strikerz Inc. as a company, which came into being at the same time, was included at that time.

UFL Reveal Trailer

It doesn’t include any gameplay, but the cinematic trailer reveal for UFL is absolutely stunning.

The lighting is fantastic, and if the game highlights those keys, it would have an edge over FIFA.

It’s powered by Unreal Engine, which we’ve seen used in many other games, including Fortnite and Gears of War.

Something also clear from the trailer is the Strikerz mantra of “Fair to Play”, relying entirely on skill-based play instead of pay-to-win.

Ambassadors

The first player to appear as an ambassador for the game was Manchester City left-back Oleksandr Zinchenko.

Along with this reveal, we also got some in-game footage of the player, and while it’s a work in progress, we think it looks pretty good!

Next up was Liverpool centre-forward Robert Firmino, who received the same in-game streak header display.

The third ambassador was from another Premier League heavyweight club, with Chelsea’s Romelu Lukaku revealed.

For him, we got a different intro to the game, which introduces player movement a bit more and how it might look in future gameplay.

Gameplay

Until we actually see gameplay, the only things we can take inspiration from are the ideas that Strikez Inc. is building the game around.

The main aspect around which they market the game is free/fair play, with skill taking priority over a pay-to-win dynamic that many have found within FIFA.

TAKE THE PITCH – Join UFL today and get all the updates on the upcoming game

The pitch looks like a combination of FIFA Ultimate Team and Football Manager, with Strikerz Inc. CEO Eugene Nashilov saying:

“You’ll manage your club, build a roster, develop tactics, and compete with other players over the seasons to prove your skills and climb to the top of the league. Competitive and fair play is at the very heart of UFL gameplay In this competition, your victory depends solely on your playing skills and the choices you make.”

Speculation around an offline career mode has been quashed, with this Twitter Q&A answered:

Although a career mode seems unlikely, it confirms that there will be “an offline mode that you can play with friends”.

The in-game map design was also shown, with this streamlined look revealed.

We’re a fan of the flag movement in the background to give the design some oomph, with the stars at the top surely referring to some kind of player skill level.

Licenses

One aspect that could ruin the game before it’s even released is its realistic feel, with much of that achieved through licensing so users can control real-life players and teams.

Fortunately, Strikerz Inc. has partnered with FIFPRO, the world’s largest representative organization of 65,000 professional footballers – the same organization EA uses for FIFA.

FAIR TO PLAY – A new experience for players tired of the pay-to-win model

Another advantage they might have over the competition is their partnership with InStat, a leader in sports performance analytics, which can give updated stats for every player.

Unsurprisingly, West Ham have been revealed as the game’s official partner, with kits and badges available in-game.

As the team used in the trailer, it was only a matter of time before this was confirmed.

Other teams that have aligned themselves with the UFL are Shakhtar Donetsk, Borussia Mönchengladbach, Monaco and Besiktas.

Platforms

UFL will be released on “all major game consoles” according to the developers, which was clarified in a Tweet that read:

As for the platforms, we mainly focus on setting up the UFL @PlayStation and @Xbox but the PC is also a platform that we are studying closely

Inclusion on PC is a question that comes up regularly, so if the launch is successful, the game will no doubt become available on it.

For now, it looks like the release will only be on Xbox One, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, and PS5.

UFL is an upcoming football title that will be free and fair to play, and they have now added another top club to their growing list of official partners.

Scottish giants Celtic were added to the list, announcing the partnership on their social media platforms.

The UFL seems to be gaining momentum before its release, but can it challenge the status quo?

UFL

The biggest news around the game since its announcement, people will be able to see UFL gameplay for the first time.

At Thursday, January 27, this new footage will be published, the only thing comparable to this day being the revelation of Ambassador Romelu Lukaku.

Needless to say, we’re thrilled, as this will really show if the title can compete with FIFA.

If you haven’t seen it before, take a look at the UFL reveal trailer above.

Release date

At the moment, UFL does not have an official release date, with its developers calling it “in progress”, and the only clue in the trailer is that it’s “coming soon.”

With eFootball’s disastrous start to life, game makers are taking their time to make sure it’s as polite as possible before committing to a date.

The game has been in development since 2016, but this time included the creation of Strikerz Inc. as a company, which came into being at the same time.

the boys

Celtic, 51 times Scottish champions, are the latest club to partner with the new game of UFL football.

“Celtic FC is proud to announce an exciting partnership with UFL, a next-generation football game based on the principles of fair-to-play.”

“Together, we will challenge the conventions of football games!”

The principles of fair-to-play seem like a not-so-subtle dig into the behemoth of the EA soccer game, especially the lucrative Ultimate Team mode, and we’re excited to see how they defy the conventions of the soccer game!

Licenses

Celtic are not the only top club to team up with the UFL, with six other European clubs already linked with the next game.

The six clubs have a rich history and all come from different countries, which suggests that the UFL is targeting a large audience of football fans.

Besiktas, Borussia Mönchengladbach, Monaco, Shakhtar Donetsk, Sporting CP and West Ham United are the other partners confirmed to date.

With Celtic being the seventh club to add to the list, will the UFL announce other partners in the coming weeks?
