They got the win despite not suspending head coach Randy Riberio (excessive yellow cards) and top forward Jordan Brown (undisclosed incident) from the team roster.

The first half was calm as both teams drew 0-0 at half time.

The ECFC midfielder quickly broke the tie in the 50th minute when midfielder Connor Brown scored with a header from a lucky rebound.

Electric City forced a turnover in midfield and advanced into opposition territory across the touchline on a back-and-forth. A cross pass went past Darby’s net and CCEFC fired a shot on the net with a header. The ball bounced off the keeper’s hands and Brown gave his own header to eventually earn the 1-0 victory.

Victory earns three additional points for ECFC, who have 28 points. They are in ninth place in the standings. The team is nine points behind the Simcoe Country Rovers who sit in sixth place and are last in the playoffs.

ECFC must earn points in its remaining four games, including at least three wins, to stay in playoff contention. Simcoe currently holds the tiebreaker over SCFC due to the most goals scored throughout the regular season. The ECFC women’s team was eliminated from the playoffs.

Riberio can return to training as this game was his second of the two-game suspension. Brown will sit out the team’s next game against Alliance United at home on Wednesday as he is serving a three-game suspension. He can be reinstated for Sunday’s road game against Vaughan Azzurri.
